Why am I a communist?

Nazim Hikmet

“I am a communist
Because I don’t see a better economy in the world than communism.

I am a communist
Because I suffer in seeing people suffer.

I am a communist
Because I firmly believe in the utopia of a just society.

I am a communist
Because everyone must have what they need and give what they can.

I am a communist
Because I firmly believe that human happiness is in solidarity.

I am a communist
Because I believe that all people have the right to a home, health, education, decent work, retirement.

I am a communist
Because I don’t believe in any god.

I am a communist
Because nobody has yet found a better idea.

I am a communist
Because I believe in humans.

I am a communist
Because I hope that one day all of humanity will be communist.

I am a communist
Because many of the best people in the world were and are communists.

I am a communist
Because I hate hypocrisy and love the truth.

I am a communist
Because there is no distinction between me and others.

I am a communist
Because I’m against the free market.

I am a communist
Because I want to fight all my life for the good of humanity.

I am a communist
Because a united people will never be won.

I am a communist
Because you can be wrong, but not to the point of being a capitalist.

I am a communist
Because I love life and fight by her side.

I am a communist
Because too few people are communists.

I am a communist
Because there are those who claim to be communists and are not.

I am a communist
Because the exploitation of man over man exists because there is no communism.

I am a communist
Because my mind and my heart are communists.

I am a communist
Because I criticize myself every day.

I am a communist
Because cooperation between peoples is the only way of peace among them..

I am a communist
Because the responsibility for so much misery in humanity lies with all those who are not communists.

I am a communist
Because I don’t want personal power, I want the power of the people.

I am a communist
Because no one has ever managed to convince me that I am not. “
